Kevin's wife, her mentor, and best friend conspired to coerce Kevin into attempting a nude. This did not initially play
well with Kevin having recently formulated the Danni character and setting a course of her disposition as the core traits of his art work. He felt that a traditional
nude gave up too much of the character and identity of a women, even in an artistic context. The challenge would be
to depict a woman who was not giving anything up.
Rachel - Moments was Kevin's first attempt at a conservative nude. His private audience basically yawned and said "next".
It took Kevin several interviews with the ladies to begin to comprehend that nudity is not an endpoint in some succession
of intimacy or necessarily a gateway to sexual conduct, but rather a complete expression of inner beauty set in the context
of a physical manifestation of freedom. In short, core liberation.
Rachel - Centered produced an immediate emotional response with Kevin's wife and the piece instantly became her personal favorite.
She is quite connected to the piece and what it represents.
Rachel - Evenings was Kevin's way of adding a note of controversy with the character. Is she methodically dressing for the evening,
or slowly undressing toward her centered self. We lack information and cues to be able to answer for certain.
But one thing is sure, the act is deliberate and on her terms. The piece started out nude from the waste up and there
are a few Artist's Proofs around in that state, but Kevin felt that the sexual tug was out of spirit with where the character is heading, and so he
designed the demi and created the the lace by hand-constructing each individual hexigon. Call it a labor of love.
But it paid off, and women who study the piece always ask where they can get a bra like "that one!"
