I remember my years in grade shool lugging a saxophone back and forth from the school to my house. It was a several
block walk, but it might as well have been miles. I was never that great of saxophone player, but I do recall the complexity
and range of the instrument.
It was a brush with a female jazz artist in my mid-40's at Luna Jazz in Eugene Oregon that stirred up all those
old memories. This woman could play most any instrument, and the up-scale environment at Luna Jazz gave me the idea
to form the Shelley character.
She's an amazing artist that really enjoys what she's doing. She gets something back out of giving, and that helps
hone her craft. Shelley has traveled to many places and performed in many contexts, but it's the lights of the Jazz
City that really brings her into her own.
